Winter is a great time to continue shopping at your favorite farmers market, and/or maybe plan a trip to one that’s new to you!
Many farmers markets across Illinois operate in the winter months. Farmers are employing practices that help extend their growing season, allowing them to bring leafy greens, lettuces, and microgreens to market year round. You’ll often find cold storage fruits and vegetables too. Fresh eggs, meat and poultry, cheese and other dairy products are available all year, and baked goods and other prepared treats know no season! You might be lucky enough to browse through goods made by local artisans and crafters too.
How does the farmers market community respond to COVID-19? What will 2021 farmers markets look like?
As we enter in the next decade, ILFMA remains more committed than ever to growing the farmers market community.
Farmers Markets across Illinois are getting ready to launch the 2019 Summer Season! One of the early products is asparagus.
